But wait there's more

How much stress can I handle?
  • crazy job
  • pregnant wife
  • sister in town for a visit

wait for it....

Dad admitted to the hospital. Yep. 1 of the potential side effects of using Prednisone is diabetes. None of us recognized some of the signs of diabetes. (tiredness, dry mouth, constant urination). Fortunately, he had a routine doctor's visit scheduled on Monday. His blood sugar level couldn't be measured with the meter in the doctor's office. His doctor had him admitted right away. They were able to get him stablized and released him last night.

He's going to stay with us for a few days just to ease him back into his normal flow.

Update

  • Thanksgiving week began Friday when my sister came up for the week.
  • My dad's had a set back with his health. He's been feeling really tired since Thursday. We're not sure what's going on. I think it may be a side effect of the Prednisone. The good news is he had a pre-scheduled doctor's appointment for tomorrow so they can check him out. I'm glad my sister is in town and can take him to the appointment.
  • Friday night we went out for pizza.
  • Saturday we went to the Bodies exhibition at the Carnegie Science Center. That was done really well. I was fascinated & amazed by how they were able to isolate & show the different systems in the human body. The amount of work & detail in order to create those displays, amazing. My favorites were the circulatory system and the nervous system. If you get the chance, you should go... It's not gorry. It's done tastefully.
  • Dinner was at Max's Allegheny Tavern. Really good German food. This is 1 of my favorite places to go for German food in pittsburgh. The Penn Brewry is the other.
  • Tonight we went to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History for their members only preview of the Dinosaurs in Their Time exhibit. It was very cool to see the refurbished dinosaurs in new displays. It has been years since I've been to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. I've been missing out. And you too if you've not been there. Not many cities in the world have a museum like the Carnegie. They've got 1 of the world largest Dinosaur exhibits. Their ancient Egyptian exhibit is reknowned as well.

Update

When 1 door closes, another opens.

When 1 thing in my life starts to simmer down, something else starts to boil.

Where did this year go?!? It's already Mid-November! Holy crap! It seemed like last week we were preparing the garden for Spring. I was getting the Miata ready for cruising. Now we're getting the house ready for my sister to come to town & holiday dinners & etc...

Work is slowing down. I've actually had the chance to get caught up on some of my e-mails. I spoke to my boss about transitioning to another project or helping some of my co-workers.

My Dad's health is getting better. The Prednisone must have fully kicked in because he's no longer sore. He's also back to his daily 1.5 to 2 mile walks.

We just found out HC's pregnant. We're excited, scared & freaked out. More to come on this.
