Miata update

I love driving my Miata. This year so far has been very cooperative for top down driving.

1 of the things I didn't like about the car when I bought it 4 years ago was the top. It had a tear in it that someone "fixed" with some kind of tape AND the rear window zipper was broken. I knew I needed to get it replaced at some point but I was dreading it since I knew it would be expensive.

At the end of last summer I noticed a couple of the seams in the top start to pull apart so I knew I couldn't delay much longer.

The Miata is getting a new top installed even as I type this post. I'm very excited about this since it's been bugging me for 4 years. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of a replacement top when I called the upholstery shop a member of the Miata club recommended. It's not as costly as I had feared.

New carpet has been laid in the baby's room, all the non-baby furniture has been moved/donated.

The end of June will be here sooner than I think.....

Close but no cigar

I didn't get the job. But I'm OK. I was their second choice and the guy that got the job is great and well qualified so I don't feel like I got looked over.

They said they had a really difficult time deciding on which of us they should go with. They said they'd keep me in mind for future positions they may have.

I think there are a number of reasons for my calm regarding this:
  1. Their selection is a guy I've known for 11 years. He's a friend of mine and an all around great guy. He knowledgeable and talented. He's a wonderful fit for the job.
  2. The job requirements are in a state of flux right now so they're not really sure "what" this person will be doing. In my current situation with the baby on the way, it's probably best for me to stay put at a job I know I can do without any issues.

Wish me luck

I have an interview tomorrow....

I've been in need of a change for a few years. I've been feeling a bit burned out and bored. But I wasn't sure "what" I wanted to do so I figured staying put was the safest move.

My old boss got a new job (same company) doing something that may be cool. She has some job openings so I'm going to try out for 1 of the openings. I'm not sure what the job entails but I'll find out tomorrow...

The collar works!!!

I was a bit skeptical about the Citronella anti-barking collar when we bought it. If J hadn't said his sister bought 1 and it was effective on her Jack Russell Terrier I would have probably balked at spending the $79.

But after a few weeks of having the collar and using it. I must admit the thing does work. It's been quite effective at reducing the number of times HRH barks. AND it reduces the duration of his barking.

The first few days he wore the collar all the time. But since then he's gotten the hint. "If he barks, he gets sprayed in the face". Anymore all we need to say is "HRH Quiet" or "Good boy quiet" and he stops barking. If he does persist, we put the citronella collar on him. That's usually enough to shut him up. If he doesn't shut up, he gets sprayed in the face with Citronella and that puts an end to his barking.

The first time I saw him get sprayed I almost peed laughing at him and his antics.

Bark, spray in the face, shake head vigorously, run to the sliding glass door, bark, spray in the face, shake head vigorously. Slowly edge back to the first window and tentatively look out.

A little while later: Bark, spray in the face, shake head vigorously, run away from window. Slowly edge back to the window and tentatively look out.

Top Down season is F-I-N-A-L-L-Y here!!!

Now don't let the title of this post fool you. It's still a little cold yet to be tops down BUT the car is out & about!!

That's right!!! My 5 month wait is over. The Miata is now out of the garage and on the road. We took it out last night for a spin to make sure everything was OK.

We're getting ready for a Miata car club cruise that I'm leading at the end of May. The route has been picked. We have to run it a few times to get the amount of time the cruise will take AND to make sure I don't get the whole bunch of us lost.

Last night was a challenge because 1 of the roads we were looking for was NOT marked so we were driving around blind looking for the road. We gave up after and hour and settled for a frozen treat as a consolation.

When we got home, I googled the area and I think I know what road we need to be on. We'll try it again this weekend.

My wife, HRH, and I had a nice time cruising around despite not finding that road.
